Raising the stream bed
Detail achieved by hand chasing and raising, shown before and after patination.
Sculpture shaped by hand
One-of-a-kind sculptures in copper, aluminium and gold leaf, made slowly by Roger and transformed by fire, chemistry and thousands of hammer strikes.

The making
Each sculpture is totally unique and made from copper, aluminium and gold leaf. Backgrounds are created using various methods and materials—from ammonia, vinegar and salt to even a splash of soy sauce.
Each scale is a single strike of the hammer, sometimes numbering in the thousands. It is a lengthy, deliberate process, so only a limited number of artworks are made each year.
At the workbench
A glimpse of the work beneath the finished piece: copper shaped by hand, then transformed through heat and patination.

Close-up details of patination, with landscape created through flame colouring and copper toning.
Selected work
No moulds. No two pieces alike. Each work holds the colour, texture and small irregularities that come from making entirely by hand.
